Boerne High won its volleyball match last Friday at Canyon Lake but needed help from around the district if the Lady Greyhounds were going to get into the playoffs and it didn’t happen.
The Lady Greyhounds clipped the Lady Hawks in five sets, 18-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-11, 15-7. Boerne is 21-16 overall and 5-6 in district and closed out the regular season at home Tuesday against Fredericksburg.
Boerne had to win its last two but also needed Fredericksburg and Wimberley to lose its final two to have a chance, but the Battlin’ Billies and Texans didn’t cooperate.
Fred was at Bandera and beat the Bulldogs on Friday, while Wimberley played Navarro and won as well to officially knock the Lady Greyhounds from the playoff hunt.
It’s been a while since the Lady Greyhounds have missed the playoffs, at least 10 years and it’s a compliment to their consistency over the last decade.
In last Friday’s match, Riley Scheidt finished with 2 kills and 5 digs, Jayleen Reyna added 6 digs, Kashtin Waibel finished with 3 aces and 5 digs, Tana Lux tallied 4 aces, 4.5 blocks, 35 assists and 16 digs, Hayden Chappell and Morgan Naylor both came up with 2 digs, Aubrey Menz had an assist, Madison Morris recorded 2 aces and 21 assists, Aubree Stegall totaled 1 block and 2 digs, Ava Rocchio chipped in with 9 kills and 5.5 blocks, Tori Adams finished with 2 aces, 15 kills, 2 blocks and 19 digs and Paige Stegall had 12 kills and 3 digs.
