The Boerne Champion tennis team was in San Antonio last week and took part in the NEISD Tennis Tournament.

Champion played in three non-district matches and won one of them to go 1-2 over the weekend. The Chargers are 6-4 overall and continue district play Saturday with two matches.

Champion is scheduled to play New Braunfels Canyon on Saturday morning and then visit Seguin in the afternoon.

At the tournament last weekend, the Chargers had a tough draw to start the event and faced Fort Bend Clements. The Sugar Land school won 10-1 on Friday.

Champion then played and defeated Health Careers later on Friday afternoon to set up a consolation finals match with Clark.

Champion had already played Clark twice this year and split with them but on Saturday the Cougars took the rubber match and picked up the 10-8 win. All three matches with the Cougars have been close and two have come in tournament play.
