Fair Oaks Ranch Rotarians were treated to an entertaining presentation by guest speaker Emma McMyler at their Aug. 17luncheon meeting at the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club.

McMyler recently won her second consecutive Texas Women’s Amateur Golf Championship and also qualified for and played in the 77th U.S. Women’s Open in Southern Pines, North Carolina, in June.

McMyler grew up on the far northwest side of San Antonio and graduated from Brandeis High School in 2020. She accepted an athletic scholarship to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she exploded on the collegiate golfing scene her freshman year by winning both the Musketeers’ and the Big East Conference Player-of-the-Year awards.

She duplicated those accomplishments her sophomore year while leading Xavier to the Big East team titles both seasons.

In January of this year, McMyler won the prestigious Women’s South Atlantic Amateur (aka “The Sally”) that has been played annually in Ormond Beach, Florida, since 1926. She played alongside 96 of the best junior and collegiate players in the country. McMyler has returned to Xavier for her junior year and plans to defend her Texas Amateur titles next summer.
