Both the Boerne Champion and Boerne High tennis teams were on the road to play non-district matches this week and both picked up victories.
Boerne High visited Ingram and whipped the Warriors, 10-1, while the Chargers were at Smithson Valley and won a tough match over the Rangers, 11-6.
Boerne High improves to 6-2 overall and is off until next week when they open district play with a match against Bandera on Wednesday, 4 p.m.
The Chargers also improve its record to 6-2 and will get a little bit of a break as well. Champion won’t play again until next Friday at the Northeast ISD tournament in San Antonio.
While the Greyhounds breezed past the Warriors, the Chargers had to rally to defeat the Rangers.
Champion almost went down 5-2 but won a key match at No. 3 boys doubles that kept it at 4-3 and kept the Chargers within striking distance.
After trailing 4-3 as the match went into singles play, Champion won five girls matches to pull ahead and closed it out from there.
Since Smithson Valley only has six courts and they played 17 matches that day, it made for a long night for the coaches and the team.
