The Comfort volleyball team had already played 13 matches heading into this week but all 13 had been on the road.
Comfort was finally at home when the Deer welcomed Hondo and those who attended Tuesday’s match saw quite a battle between the two schools.
Comfort and Hondo went five sets before a winner was decided. Hondo won the first two, but Comfort took the next two before the Owls closed it out in the fifth set to record the 25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 15-25, 15-11 win.
With the loss the Deer fall to 10-4 this season. They’ll compete in the Johnson City Tournament this weekend. The Deer have won two straight tournaments and hope to make it three in a row this weekend when they play in the Johnson City tourney.
Comfort began pool play Friday with matches against Blanco, Jarrell and Marble Falls. The tourney continues Saturday with bracket play.
In Tuesday’s match, Meghan Davis and Hope Van Geffen both recorded double-doubles and Molly Hamilton had a season-high 27 assists.
