Denzil DeWitt Hallmark Jr.

March 26, 1944 – August 14, 2022

 

Denzil DeWitt Hallmark Jr. (Denny, Pa) was born in San Antonio, Texas, on March 26, 1944, to Denzil and Veda Reed Hallmark and passed away on August 14, 2022. He attended Edison High School and married Susan Carroll, his high school sweetheart, having recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.

They enjoyed many travels, hunting, fishing, golfing and horse shows. They attended Texas Tech together, and he later transferred to the University of Texas.

His career started as an electrician with Hallmark Electric, a family-owned business. His legacy includes starting a real estate development company, which became one of San Antonio’s largest single-family residential developers. Worth Hallmark Development Company was instrumental in bringing several of the largest national builders to San Antonio.

Following his real estate development career, he slowed down and started a home building company specializing in large Hill Country ranch estates. Denny was very gifted and passionate about all aspects of laying out ranch properties. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Troy Hallmark; and sister Joyce Pruitt. He is survived by his wife, Susan Hallmark; son Trey Hallmark and wife Leslee; daughter in law Mitzi Hallmark; brother Jerry Hallmark; and most importantly his grandchildren, Kirsten and husband Gage Haby, Haley Hallmark and Braden Hallmark.
