Justin Wade Thanheiser

Justin Wade Thanheiser

Justin Wade Thanheiser, 18 years old, from Boerne, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2022. He was a former Cougar at Curington Elementary and a Greyhound at Boerne Middle School North. He completed his education in a home school program.

Justin was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 1. This did not stop him from having a very full life.

He was born at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, so his first breath was Hawaiian air. He had a lifelong attraction to volcanoes; he would doodle volcanoes on everything. He loved the beach, playing in the waters of Oahu, and later at the beaches in Corpus Christi, Port Aransas and South Padre Island.

Everyone who knows Justin knew that he loved and looked up to his best friend and big brother, Zachary. Zach motivated and encouraged Justin and gave him reassurance that he was not alone.

Justin enjoyed family vacations, taking pictures of everything. Visits to the Grand Canyon, Pikes Peak, Gatlinburg and Washington D.C., where he visited four of the Smithsonian museums and wanted to return to visit the rest. He also enjoyed caves, visiting several, including Cave Without a Name. He participated in three Curington Elementary walk-a-thons, even though it was difficult for him to walk he completed five miles each time.

He loved drawing, where most of his sketches included a volcano. He had an artistic eye for photography and would constantly take pictures everywhere he went. He also enjoyed putting Legos together, the more complicated the better. He had an extensive collection of Damascus blades and remote-control vehicles. He also loved to spend time playing video games where he excelled on all levels. He brought his dry humor to the table for board games with family and friends.

Justin accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior and was baptized as a born-again believer. He was an exceptional member of Bible study and would bring his unique perspective to all scriptural discussions. During Bible study when prayer requests were taken, his answer was always, “I am good.”

Justin is survived by his mother, Trish, and his father, Jerome. He was welcomed to eternity by his big brother, Zachary.

Justin’s services will begin with visitation at 1 p.m. and the funeral service following at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Justin’s memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.
