Nicholas Duane Frantzen
May 26, 2007 – July 20, 2022
Nicholas Duane Frantzen, or “Nick” as he was called by his loved ones, is living a life of freedom that he never knew before today. He is definitely bringing more joy to heaven as he did here on earth to all of his family and friends. Because of the hope we have in Christ, we know he is experiencing total healing from all of his restraints from his physical condition.
He passed away on July 20, 2022, in the early morning after he fought a hard fight for so many years. We rejoice with him that today he is walking, talking, speaking and everything else that he has not been able to do since birth.
One thing that he did do very well was to give a smile and joy beyond measure to everyone around him. We thank God, his Creator, so much for his life and all of the things that he taught us about living life, because of his life. Our hearts grieve so much because we loved and miss him so much, but we are excited for him to have total freedom and to be reunited with Hailey and Grandpa and others.
Nicholas was born on May 26, 2007, in San Antonio, Texas. He had just turned 15 years old. He is predeceased by his aunt, Hailey Frantzen; his great-grandfathers, Joe Allen Clark and Clifton E. Frantzen; great-grandmother Adela Frantzen; and grandma, Jo Walser. He is survived by his grandparents, Carl and Bonnie Frantzen; father Barrett Frantzen and his wife, Misty, and their children, Austin and Grace Frantzen; uncle Andrew Frantzen and his wife, Jordan, and their children, Jaxon, Kennedy and Dylan Frantzen; grandmother Muriel Clark; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nicholas, in spite of his handicaps, was able to walk in a gait trainer, use a communication device, do many tasks with his hands and charm people with his smile and laughter. Some of his favorite things to do were to watch NASCAR, curling, ninja competitions, games, movies, sports, music and cartoons. Somehow, he understood when the exciting things were about to happen. He had a squeal that was so joyful to hear.
Nothing missed his attention. He was extremely nosey with the happenings in the house. He definitely was a trooper and a fighter. He had countless surgeries and treatments and he never cried or complained. He understood so much and communicated so well for someone who could not speak. He spoke with his eyes and actions. He loved unconditionally.
A huge thank you to all of the people who impacted his life and ours. Countless doctors, nurses, therapists, school personnel and people who supplied the things that Nick needed and the emotional support from family and friends. We had a huge community of support for all these years. A special thank you to his nurses now who went beyond everything and took such loving care of him. Also, to Vitas, the best hospice company ever. They were there for us for every second of every day.
