Boerne’s City Hill Church played host to a “Serve Day” on Saturday morning as members pumped $20 of free gasoline on a first-come, first-served basis at the Exxon Service Station on Esser Road at the intersection of Highway 46 to anyone who showed up. The church set aside a portion of its missions budget to use for the giveaway and pumped the free gas in service to Jesus Christ and the community until the funds were gone. First picture: Matt Miller puts gas into a vehicle’s tank while fellow church members Stephanie Andrew and Paulino Diaz visit with the driver and wash windows, respectively. Second photo: Church member Kelly Cunningham visits with a driver at the head of the waiting line before directing which pump to drive to for the free gas. Third picture: The lines started forming in both directions on Esser Road early Saturday after the church’s Serve Day began. Star photos by Keith E. Domke
