A total of 10 Boerne Champion soccer players were recently recognized as all-district by the coaches in District 26-5A.
Senior Audrey Riordan, junior Addison Huber, sophomore Mack Arendall and junior Skyleigh Arnold were first-team selections, while senior Vivian Garza, senior Shelby Christian and senior Grace McClain landed on the second team and three more Lady Chargers were honorable mention after senior Lorenna Garza, senior Shelby Streicher and senior Kallyn Zaner made the HM list.
Champion had a great 2022 season that didn’t end until they reached the state tournament. The Lady Chargers finished the year at 20-4-3 overall and went 12-3-1 in district to earn second place in 26-5A.
Once the playoffs started Champion beat Georgetown, Jefferson and Liberty Hill and won those three matches by a combined score of 13-0.
Next, the Lady Chargers moved to the regional tournament where the team defeated McAllen and then squared off with 26-5A champs Dripping Springs in Corpus Christi for the right to go to state.
After losing to Drip twice in district, the third time proved to be the charm for the Lady Chargers after they knocked off the Lady Tigers in the regional finals in a shootout to advance to state.
Once at the 5A state tourney, Champion earned bronze medals after they were defeated by Grapevine in the state semis.
