Floyd Allen Leeder Sr.

Floyd Allen Leeder Sr.

September 14, 1932 – June 2, 2022

Floyd Allen Leeder Sr. passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Boerne, Texas, at the age of 89. Floyd was born in Kerrville, Texas, on September 14, 1932, to Richard Leeder Sr. and Ida Prause Leeder.

Floyd grew up on the family farm in Center Point. He attended school on Lane Valley before starting high school in Comfort. Floyd lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He would ride his bicycle seven miles into town every day for school and practices before returning home the same way. Homework and studying were done by candlelight each night only after his chores on the farm were completed.

After graduating high school, he enrolled at Texas Lutheran College and again excelled in football and baseball. He received his bachelor’s degree in education, then began his career as a math teacher and assistant football coach at Boerne High School. His favorite memory was putting on the football pads and lining up against the senior football boys. He would encourage them “ to come at him with all they had.” They tried … but most couldn’t.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, visiting many ports around the world. His favorite was Holland. He received an honorable discharge in 1959.

After returning the Boerne, he worked with his brother, Richard Leeder, of Leeder Masonry. Several years later he started his own business, Leeder Construction, and continued until his retirement.

Floyd enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and watching any kind of sports. More than anything else, he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up.

Floyd is survived by his children, Alana Leeder Ward and Floyd Allen Leeder II; granddaughter Lauryn Ward; grandsons Jaydon Leeder and twins Joshua and Jarrett Leeder; his good friend and mother of his children, Willene Thomson Leeder; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers Richard Leeder and Gene Leeder; and nephew Bruce Leeder.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donation to the Meals on Wheels San Antonio at 4306 NW Loop 410 or https://www.mowsatx.org/ or charity of your choice.
