Marion L. Sansone, 105, died peacefully on May 30, 2022, in residence at Gracious Living Personal Care Home 5 in Boerne, Texas. She was born on July 25, 1916, in Dunlo, Pennsylvania, to her parents, Sicilian immigrants Cosimo Cosimano and Rose Cosimano (San Fillipe). She married her husband, Rocco, in 1940. They raised three children.
Marion was a teenager during the Great Depression. At the age of 16, she moved to New Jersey to work as a waitress. She loved her job and the opportunity to socialize with her customers. In 1975, she and her husband moved to Leon Springs, Texas. She went on to work at other local establishments in Boerne and Leon Springs, serving many other customers who still have memories of her enthusiasm and smile. Finally, after serving food with a smile for over 75 years she retired in 2010 at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Richard; and all of her siblings (Sarah, Lilly, Vito, Camella, Josephine and Ida). She is survived by her two children, Anthony (Pamela) of Boerne, Texas, and daughter Dianne (Ron) Hendrix of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family gives thanks to Marion’s community of friends from St. Elisabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church for their prayers and visits with Marion. The family also offers our heartfelt gratitude to Gracious Living Personal Care Home (Ovi, Lily and their family) and the nurses and staff of Embrace Hospice Care for all the care, love, and attention they showered on Marion in her final years.
