Malvina “Mally” Agatha Weakland, 86, of Boerne, Texas, formerly of Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania, and Hamburg, New York, passed away peacefully May 3, 2022, in Boerne, Texas, after a well-lived life with her husband, Patrick, and family members at her side.
Malvina Agatha (nee Westrick) Weakland was born October 5, 1935, in Carrolltown, Pennsylvania, to Helen (Stoltz) and Paul Westrick, the second of 10 children. On October 17, 1953, she married Patrick Modestus Weakland after their high school romance.

They later moved to Hamburg, New York,  where they lived for over 40 years and raised six children. She was active in her church wherever they lived to include St. Joseph’s in Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania, as president of the Altar Sodality and St. Elizabeth’s in Smethport, Pennsylvania. She also worked in the community and especially enjoyed her work as a home health care aide. She loved reading and passed that love of reading on to her children and grandchildren.
Mally and Pat retired to Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania, in 1998 and lived there for 20 years. There, she enjoyed making unique gifts for her children, grandchildren and friends using her embroidery,
sewing and cooking skills. She also enjoyed caring for plants and animals, as well as listening to music of all kinds.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Patrick M. Weakland; her children, Karen (Del) Eulberg of Boerne, Texas; Lucinda Weakland of Harrison Valley, Pennsylvania, Jeanette (Mark) Erewein of Hamburg, New York, Wayne (Anna) Weakland of Petroleum, West Virginia, and Judi Kogler of
Hamburg, New York; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by five sisters, Carol Baker, Diana Fogle, Judith Bailey, Patricia Rock and Catherine Mertens; and one brother, Eugene Westrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Amandus Weakland; one sister, Margaret Adams; and two brothers, Paul Westrick and Richard Westrick.
A funeral Mass/celebration of life will be held on May 21, 2022, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 307 Franklin St., Smethport, Pennsylvania. There will be a family gathering at 10 a.m. and a Rosary. The funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. followed by burial then a luncheon at the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that masses be said for Mally or a donation be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
