Members of the Boerne High track and field team traveled to Kingsville last weekend for the Region IV-4A meet at Javelina Stadium.
It turned into a great meet for the Lady Greyhounds team that qualified four girls in five events to this year’s state meet scheduled for next weekend in Austin.
As a team, the Lady Greyhounds were 4th with 44 points and all 44 were earned by the state qualifiers, while the BHS boys team placed 10th with 19 points.
Tori Adams had two first-place finishes after the junior won the discus with toss of 126-09 and also took 1st in the shot put with a throw of 44-0, while senior and Texas A&M signee, Ashley Clingman took 2nd in the shot put with a heave of 41-06.
Mary Marino punched her ticket to state after the freshman turned in a 5:20.38 in the 1600 to place 2nd, while sophomore Kendall Lemm also came in 2nd in the high jump after she cleared 5-6 to advance to state.
On the boys side, senior Colby Brown just missed out on state after he ran a 10.94 in the 100 for 3rd for 6 team points. Brown also raced in the 200 and clocked in at 22.36 for 4th and 4 more points.
The Greyhounds 4x100 relay of Braden Baize, Wyatt Watts, Will French and Charlie Stahl combined for 4th for 8 points, while sophomore McCoy Bruce finished 6th in the pole vault after he cleared 12-0 to earn a team point and round out the scoring.
