Two middle-schoolaged boys escaped serious injury on Friday afternoon when they crossed Main Street away from a crosswalk and one of them was struck by a vehicle. Everyone involved was released from the scene by the Boerne Police Department after officers conducted their investigation.
On Friday afternoon at about 4:30 p.m., two boys dashed across Main Street where East San Antonio meets Main, reports stated. While one made it across the street, the other was struck by a motorist traveling north on Main Street.
A witness who called in the accident said the boys didn’t use a crosswalk. The witness noticed the duo starting to run across the busy downtown Boerne street before looking away. When the witness looked back, he said he saw a woman hit one of the boys accidentally with her vehicle.
Information from the Boerne Police Department stated first responders checked on the boy who was hit, and he was released without transport to a hospital.
BPD continues to urge pedestrians – through a safety campaign – to use crosswalks or sidewalks when possible, not to assume traffic will stop for them and to be aware parked cars and obstacles may block the view of streets.
