Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke announced earlier this week that he will continue his People of Texas Campaign in May by hosting a series of town halls – including one in Boerne – focused on creating a "state that is affordable for every Texan."
Information from his campaign office stated O’Rourke is set to hold five town halls as he brings people together around a positive, popular and unifying vision for a state that every Texan can afford to live in, work in, raise their kids in and be healthy in.
“Under Greg Abbott’s failed leadership, Texas has become unaffordable for too many,” the press release stated. “Property taxes have skyrocketed by $20 billion since he took office. His latest political stunt at the border also drove up inflation while killing jobs, crushing businesses and costing Texas more than $4.2 billion. This followed Abbott’s grid failure that resulted in Texans paying an average of $42 more per month on their utility bills for the coming decades.”
O’Rourke will kick off his May town halls with a stop in Boerne at noon on Friday, May 6, before holding additional events in Pearland, Bastrop, Waco and Richardson. All of them are open to the public.
Boerne’s will take place at noon at the Patrick Heath Public Library Amphitheater.
The People of Texas Campaignhas been taking O’Rourke back to every part of the state. In the two months since he won the Democratic primary, he has held more than 30 events focused on jobs, public education, and health care.
