Charles Mitchell Straayer
Charles (Chuck) Mitchell Straayer, 86, of Boerne, Texas, passed away on April 16, 2022. Chuck was born in December 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His parents were Jacob and Mildred Straayer.
Chuck graduated from the University of Michigan and was a diehard football fan, always cheering for his beloved Wolverines. Chuck married Carol Roberta Punt on May 31, 1958, in Missouri. Chuck and Carol lived in many states during their 62 years of marriage. Chuck worked as a sales manager for several companies, including Frigidaire, RCA and Speed Queen.
Chuck and Carol were residents of Boerne, Texas, for 30 years and members of St. John Lutheran Church, where Chuck enjoyed teaching Bible classes.
After Carol passed away in 2021, Chuck's faithful furry companion, Dixie, was always by his side. His many friends and neighbors helped him through his last year as he dealt with many health issues.
Chuck was predeceased by his father, Jacob, and his mother, Mildred. He is survived by his brother, David Straayer; daughters Roberta Austin and Terry Orton (fiancé Hugh Breese); his two grandsons, Hunter Austin (wife Erica) and Hayden Austin (fiancé Samantha Park); and his great-grandson, Mack Austin.
We remain steadfast in the belief that we will see him again.
