The Boerne and Fredericksburg girls basketball teams dominated this year’s all-district selections after the two Hill Country rivals finished tied atop the 28-4A standings.
Boerne High had 8 players named all-district and so did the Battlin’ Billies.
For the Lady Greyhounds, two players earned superlative awards after sophomore Averi Aaron was named the District MVP and junior Jamie Ruede was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
Freshman Jenna Ruede, senior Jordyn Lemm and sophomore Abby Smith were all named to the first team, while senior Hannah Rocchio and junior Liz Fox both landed on the second team and freshman Savannah Salinas was named honorable mention.
Both Boerne and Fred finished district at 9-1 in district after they each defeated the other on their respective home courts.
The schools flipped to break the tie for playoff seeding purposes and Fred took the No. 1 seed in the district and BHS was No. 2, but it didn’t matter because they met in the regional finals to decide which team which team would qualify for this year’s 4A state tournament.
Fredericksburg ended up winning the regional title by a point over Boerne, 47-46, to end the Lady Greyhounds season at 32-5.
