The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team had a hard time getting its offense going on Friday when the Eagles hosted Brentwood Christian.

Geneva recorded 5 hits but only pushed across 2 runs and dropped Friday’s district contest, 9-2.

The Eagles are 12-3-1 overall and have two home games this week. They host St. Mary’s Hall on Tuesday and welcome Hyde Park on Friday.

In last Friday’s game, Brentwood scored a run in the first, 4 more in the second, 3 in the fourth and 1 in the sixth for the 8-0 lead before Geneva could get on the board.

Chaz Lutz walked and then Luke Valdez hit one out of the park to make it 8-2 but there were two outs in the frame and the Bears ended the inning with a ground out.

In the top of the seventh, Brentwood scored a run and it was 9-2, which is where it ended after the Eagles put two runners on in the bottom of the inning with one out but couldn’t score.

Guy George finished with 2 hits, Lutz singled and scored, Valdez finished with 2 RBI on his homer and Grant Roberson singled.

Jake Roberson, George and Valdez all threw in the game and combined for 6 strikeouts.
