Geneva School of Boerne saved its best for last in Monday’s softball game against Providence.
When Monday’s contest entered the seventh inning, the Eagles were trailing 15-13, but erupted for 10 runs in its last at bat in the top of the seventh and went on to claim the 23-17 victory.
Geneva is 5-6 overall and hosts Hyde Park on Friday.
Monday’s game had a total of seven ties or lead changes in the see-saw battle as the teams combined for 40 runs, 32 hits and 29 RBI.
Brynn Riebel tripled and singled, drove in 2 runs and scored 3 times; Alexa Elizondo hit 2 doubles, a singled, picked up 2 RBI and scored 4 runs; Kate Friesenhahn hit a double and 3 singles and scored a run; Avery Myrick hit 2 singles, Maegan Riebel drove in 2 runs and scored twice; Sydney Griffey doubled, collected 4 RBI and scored twice, Maggie Chisholm hit 3 singles, picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, KK Chisholm singled and drove in 2 runs, while Sam Doran and Chloe Donnell both crossed home plate 3 times.
Myrick went 4.2 innings in the circle and struck out 3, while Madeline Egbert threw in the final 2.1 frames and fanned 2.
