The Boerne High softball team closed out district play on Tuesday at Wimberley with a big win and finished 28-4A action with a perfect record.
Boerne topped the Texans, 19-4, and ends district play at 10-0. Nine of Boerne’s district victories this year have come via the run rule.
The Lady Greyhounds scored 7 in the first, 3 in the second and another 7 in the third for a 17-0 lead before the Texans could get on the board.
Wimberley scored 4 in the bottom of the third to make it 17-4 and after neither team scored in the fourth, Boerne added 2 more in the fifth for the 19-4 lead. After Wimberley didn’t score in the bottom of the fifth inning, the game ended.
BHS was patient at the plate and had more walks than hits after they took 16 walks and finished with 10 hits, including a home run from Heidi Maytum, who also took 2 walks and drove in 4 runs in the game.
Brooke Sivek took 3 walks, singled, picked up an RBI and scored twice; Dillen Cooper scored a run; Ava Rodriguez had a strong game at the plate and hit a triple and a double, pushed in a run and scored once and Isa Renteria had an RBI.
Reese Wilson took 2 walks and scored 2 runs, Morgan Duty walked twice and scored a run; Madi Dorrow tripled, pushed in a run and scored twice; Taryn Madlock singled, walked 3 times, picked up an RBI and scored 3 runs; Ava Nieto doubled, collected 3 RBI and scored twice; Shelby Wright singled and Taylor Wilson singled, knocked in 3 runs and scored 2 runs.
Rodriguez went 2 innings and picked up the win after she gave up 1 hit, no walks and fanned 2, while Renteria tossed 3 frames and yielded 5 hits and 4 runs, to go with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks.
