Deer split last two softball games

The Comfort softball team returned to action after a six-day break and lost to Llano by a run last week but bounced back to run rule Ingram on Tuesday of this week.

The Comfort softball team returned to action after a six-day break and lost to Llano by a run last week but bounced back to run rule Ingram on Tuesday of this week.

Comfort is 17-6 overall and 4-4 in district.

Vs. Llano

Against Llano, the Yellowjackets won 1-0 and didn’t score its run until the bottom of the seventh and it came on an error.

It marks the second time that Llano has defeated Comfort by a single run this year.

Comfort had 5 hits, while Llano only recorded 1 hit but still managed to win.

Tilly Avalos led the Deer with a double, while four others hit singles.

Emma Wardlaw went 6.1 innings and gave up just 1 hit, fanned 9 and walked 2.

Vs. Ingram 

Comfort blew away the Warriors in three innings, 15-0, even though the Deer only recorded 4 hits.

Comfort took 12 walks and scored a run in the first, 8 in the second and 6 in the third.

Ashlynn Rodriguez tripled, picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Madalynn Rodriguez doubled, drove in a run and scored twice, Hope Van Geffen doubled, collected 3 RBI and scored once; Katie Haffner and Tori Hernandez both walked twice and scored both times; Morgan Hansen singled and scored twice; Tilly Avalos, Emma Wardlaw and Layla Castro all crossed home plate one time and Hope Van Geffen singled, scored and drove in 3 runs.

Wardlaw earned the win on 39 pitches and gave up 2 hits, no runs or walks and struck out 5.
