BLANCO - Boerne High participated in the District 26-5A boys golf tournament last week at Vaaler Creek Golf Club and while the team just missed out on advancing to the next round by three strokes, the Greyhounds did qualify one golfer to regionals.
Brackston Pitts will represent BHS at the regional tournament after he qualified individually.
Not only was Pitts the only golfer from the Greyhounds to advance but he was the only golfer from Boerne ISD to make it to regionals this year.
The top two teams at district and the top two individual golfers not on an advancing team head to regionals, which is set for April 16-17 in McAllen.
Smithson Valley 1 captured the regional title with a 626 (315,311), while Alamo Heights 1 and Boerne High bat-tled for second place all day on Day 2 before the Mules edged the Greyhound by three strokes.
Alamo Heights 1 finished with a 633 (306,327) and the Greyhounds tallied a 636 (310,326).
Gavin Smith of Smithson Valley won the individual title with a 151 (74,77), while Boerne’s Brackston Pitts was second at 152 with rounds of 77 and 75.
Pitts led the Greyhound with his 152, while Vincent Namvar and Dalton Cunningham both finished with 161s after Namvar shot 75 and 86 and Cunningham carded rounds of 78 and 83.
Ryder Dauphin was one shot behind his teammates at 162 with rounds of 80 and 82, while Crew Baldwin scored a 184 after shooting 96 and 88.
Also, for the Greyhounds, Brooks Wilkinson and Mark Bannwolf played as individual medalists. Wilkinson came in at 174 with rounds of 84 and 90 and Bannwolf finished with a 183 after shooting 92 and 91.
