CONVERSE – The track and field teams from Boerne High competed with the rest of the squads from 26-5A at this year’s district track meet at Rutledge Stadium last week.
In the final varsity standings, the Lady Hounds placed 6th with 48 points and the Boerne boys were 7th with 43 points.
The top six at district earn points but only the top four finishers in each event advance to this week’s Area meet held at New Braunfels Canyon this past Wednesday.
The top four from Area advance to regionals set for April 18-19 at Heroes Stadium.
Varsity Girls
Prisca Igbo won two events after taking first in the 100 hurdles after clocking in at 15.15, while Igbo also took gold in the 300 hurdles with a time of 46.48.
Brei Johnson posted a 48.12 for 4th in the 300 hurdles to earn 4 team points and head to Area.
The 4x100 meter relay of Alyson Bendele, Ocean Va lenciano, Prisca Igbo and Kelsey Hernandez finished 5th in a time of 50.14.
Boerne’s 4x400 relay of Brei Johnson, Landon Wade, Mary Marino and Kiley Coffland teamed up for 6th after combining for a 4:14 for 2 more team points.
In field events, Ella Schram threw the discus 98-10 for 5th place and Schram also came in 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 33-1.50, while Bella Pettet came in 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 17-5.
Varsity Boys
Aaron Garcia and Valor Menn went 2-3 in the 3200 after Garcia posted a time of 9:36 and Menn recorded a 9:41, while Brayden Scott finished 5th at 9:51. Barrett Crofut placed 3rd in the 800 with a time of 1:58, while in the 1600, Garcia finished 2nd in the 1600 after he clocked in at 4:23 and Menn posted a 4:31 for 5th.
In field events, Noah Blomqvist finished 4th in the discus with a throw of 139-5 and Keagan Fischer came in 6th in the event with a toss of 134-2.
In the shot put, Logan Schram had a heave of 46-1.50 for 4th and Fischer was one spot back in 5th with a throw of 44-2.
JV
In JV competition, the Lady Hounds were 5th with 48 points and the Boerne boys were 8th with 14 points.
