The Comfort softball team tallied 8 hits and scored 7 runs against Florence on Monday but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Buffs went on to defeat the Deer.
Despite the solid outing by the Comfort team that tied the game twice at 5-5 and 7-7, Florence still managed to run rule them in six innings, 17-7.
Comfort is 4-15 overall and is 1-3 in district. The Deer played Florence on Friday at home and host Ingram Monday, 7 p.m.
The Lady Buffs had a fast start and scored 5 runs in the first inning, but Comfort tied it by the third frame with a run in the second and 4 in the top of the third to make it 5-5.
Florence pulled ahead with 2 runs in the bottom of the third and went up 7-5, but the Deer tied it again in the top of the fourth with 2 runs and it was knotted at 7-7.
But the Buffs started to stampede from there and went on to score 6 runs in the fourth, added another run in the fifth and ended it with 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Kippy Sterling had 3 hits after she doubled and hit 2 singles and scored twice. Kaydence Stehling doubled and singled, picked up an RBI and scored a run, Hope Van Geffen singled and walked and scored twice, Anna Munoz singled, drove in a run and scored once, while Jordan Judkins knocked out a hit.
