Bobcat baseball team falls to Bandera, SA Wolverines

The Comfort baseball team played Bandera and the San Antonio Wolverines this week in a couple of non- district games during spring break.

Comfort dropped both contests and is 5-6 overall. The Bobcats play at Canyon Lake Wednesday before opening district play on March 24 against Florence.

CHS lost to Bandera, 21-9, on Tuesday and then fell to the SA Wolverines, 17-7, the next day.

Vs. SA Wolverines

Comfort kept up with the San Antonio home school for the most part and the Wolverines were only leading 11-7 after four innings, but the Wolverines blew open the contest with 6 runs in the top of the fifth for the 17-7 advantage.

Comfort had to score at least a run in the bottom of the fifth to keep the mercy rule from kicking in, but the Bobcats went down in order and it ended there.

The Wolverines outhit the Cats, 11-6, while Comfort was plagued by 8 errors, which allowed the Wolverines to score 10 unearned runs.

Vs. Bandera

The Bulldogs came on strong late and broke open a competitive game with an 8-run seventh inning.

Bandera was up 13-9 going into the final frame and plated 8 runs to pull away and record the 21-9 victory.

Comfort outhit the Bulldogs, 13-11, and had five hits that went for extra bases.

Tucker Rust smacked 2 doubles, picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Gunner Carpenter doubled and singled, drove in a run and scored twice, Mason Matter tripled and pushed in a run and Rhyder George tripled and singled, scored once and collected 2 RBI.

Mason Matt hit 2 singles and scored twice, Brooks Davis singled and scored, Evan Valadez singled and scored, Judd Lozano singled, scored and drove in a run and Cade Woerner singled.

Five different players pitched for the Bobcats and Woerner had the most strikeouts with 3 in 1.2 innings of work. Rust went the longest on the hill and tossed 2.1 innings and struck out 2.
