Wilkinson accepts head coaching job at McCollum
________. ___ __

David Wilkinson is stepping down as the Greyhounds offensive coordinator to become the head football coach at McCollum.

Wilkinson was officially hired at Tuesday’s Harlandale ISD school board meeting and the district sent out a press release announcing his hiring.

“A new chapter is beginning for McCollum High School football as David Wilkinson takes the helm as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator,” part of the release states. “With more than two decades of coaching experience and a history of success at top Texas high school programs, Wilkinson brings a strong vision for developing student-athletes on and off the field.”

As the offensive coordinator for the Greyhound football team, Wilkinson called plays for a program that won two regional championships in three seasons and played for a state title in 2022. He also served as an assistant track coach in the spring.

Former head coach Che Hendrix also recently left the Greyhounds program and was replaced by defensive coordinator Brett Sawyer.

With Hendrix and Wilkinson both gone, there are now two openings on the Greyhounds football staff and Sawyer said they’ve begun the process of filling those positions.
