A great soccer season came to an end for the Geneva School of Boerne girls team at the TAPPS 4A state tournament in Round Rock.

Geneva was playing The Atonement Academy in the state semifinals on Tuesday and both teams were also battling wind gusts of close to 40 miles per hour that day.

Geneva held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in Tuesday’s state semifinals before Atonement tied it at 2-2 by the end of regulation. From there, it went to penalty kicks and Atonement was able to record the 3-2 victory.

It was the third meeting between the two schools this year with Geneva winning one and tying Atonement in the other. The San Antonio school claimed the one that mattered most as they advanced to the state finals and earned silver medals.

This is the third Geneva team that has played at state in the last week after both Eagles basketball teams made it to the state tourney last week and the girls came home with silver medals and the boys earned bronze medals just like the Geneva girls soccer team.
