EDITOR’S NOTE: Each month, the Boerne Star sends its “crack team” of restaurant reviewers to an establishment in the area. These ladies — who have assumed the names of Pam, Erin, Nellie and Kelly, from TV’s “The Office” — select a restaurant, show up unannounced, and take in all the establishment has to offer. This month: The Creek Restaurant.

Boerne’s culinary scene is brimming with gems, and The Creek is a classic example. Nestled in a charming historic house, this fine dining establishment offers an ambiance as inviting as its cuisine.

From the moment we arrived, the warm lighting, crisp white linens and carefully arranged roses on each table set the stage for an elegant yet cozy evening. Whether seated indoors, on the patio, or beside the gently flowing creek, the setting was nothing short of picturesque.

The Dining Divas — Pam, Erin, Kelly, and Nellie — set out to sample some of the restaurant’s standout dishes, each delivering a delightful experience.

The four ladies started the evening with warm, creamy brie elegantly paired with fresh, crunchy bread that was effortless to spread. The chopped nuts added some needed texture and contrast to the sweetness of the brie.

Nellie indulged in the shrimp and scallop Aglio e Olio, a classic Italian dish that translates to “Garlic and Oil.”

This dish showcased the beauty of simplicity. The linguini was perfectly cooked, tender yet firm, soaking up the rich, garlicky sauce. The shrimp and scallops added a fresh sweetness, while the pepperoncini provided a gentle heat.

A squeeze of lemon cut through the richness and the Parmigiano-Reggiano gave a savory finish. Light yet satisfying, it’s a must-try for seafood and pasta lovers.

For the main course, Erin selected the filet mignon, cooked to a perfect medium. The steak arrived with melted butter and a house-made dipping sauce.

Each bite was tender, and a delightful black pepper crust provided a slight char on the edges. The seasoning struck an ideal balance; not too overpowering, not too subtle. However, diners should note that sides are ordered separately.

Pam opted for the New Zealand lamb chops, which arrived at the table beautifully seared and cooked to tender, juicy perfection.

The accompanying creamy mashed potatoes provided a smooth and buttery contrast to the lamb’s slightly smoky char. The finishing touch? A refreshing mint jelly that added a bright, tangy sweetness, elevating each bite.

The dish showcased high-quality ingredients and expert preparation, making it an instant favorite.

Kelly, drawn to the charm of The Creek’s historic setting, appreciated the fine woodwork, stained glass and intricate details that gave the space its character.

Opting for a lighter meal, she ordered her go-to favorite, the poblano soup. Served at just the right temperature, the creamy, slightly spicy dish felt like a warm hug on a cold evening. The depth of flavor, combined with the perfect consistency, made it a comforting yet flavorful choice.

From the stunning ambiance to the impeccable dishes, The Creek delivered a memorable dining experience. Whether indulging in seafood, steak, lamb or a comforting bowl of soup, each dish spoke to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

The Dining Divas will certainly be back — perhaps next time for a leisurely lunch by the water.
