Comfort picked up its first win of the young season Tuesday after the Deer defeated Medina, 10-3.
CHS is 1-5 overall and is scheduled to play in the Blanco tournament this weekend.
Medina scored first in Tuesday’s contest with a single run for the quick 1- 0 lead but Comfort answered in the bottom of the third with 7 runs to wrestle away momentum and take a 7-1 lead.
Comfort’s first batter in the third popped up to start the inning for a quick out, but the Deer sent 10 more batters to the plate before the Lady Cats could get out of the frame.
The Deer used a 2-RBI triple, a double, 3 singles, 2 errors, a walk and a groundout RBI to get its 7 runs.
Comfort tacked on 3 more runs in the bottom of the sixth to open up a 10-1 lead and were on the verge of a run-rule but it went to the seventh where Medina scored 2 runs to make it 10-3.
It stayed there since the Deer didn’t have to bat in the bottom of the frame.
Comfort finished with 11 hits and were paced by Kippy Sterling, who hit a double and 3 singles, drove in a run and scored twice.
Bella Hernandez slapped out the 2-RBI triple, Moorea Davis doubled, singled and scored 2 runs, Jordan Judkins hit 2 singles, picked up an RBI and scored once, Ella Thiele pushed in a run and scored twice, Hope Van Geffen collected 2 RBI, hit a single and scored a run, Kaydence Stehling picked up an RBI, Faith Diaz de Villegas singled and scored and Raquelle Ibarra walked and scored.
Thiele earned the win from the circle and gave up 3 hits, 3 runs, struck out 12 and walked 8.
