Boerne High had a strong start to its 2025 baseball season after the Greyhounds run ruled Wagner in five innings Tuesday at home.

It turned into batting practice for the Hounds as they smacked the ball all over the field and recorded three home runs against the Thunderbirds on their way to a 10-0 victory.

BHS starts district and league play at 1-0. The Greyhounds were scheduled to play in the NISD tourney this weekend but it was called off.

The Hounds continue district play Tuesday at Kerrville Tivy and are scheduled to play in the San Antonio Classic tourney this coming weekend.

Hudson McNew started things off with a 3-run shot in the bottom of the first inning for the quick 3-0 lead.

BHS added two more runs in the second and it stayed at 5-0 until the bottom of the fifth when the Greyhounds kicked in the mercy rule with 5 more runs.

In the fifth, Brooks Perez hit an inside-the park home run, Dylan Perez smacked a 2-run shot and then Jake Perez doubled to bring in two more runs to end it.

While the Boerne bats were hot, Jackson Grimes didn’t give up much on the mound. Grimes went all 5 innings and yielded 1 hit, struck out 10 and only walked 1 to pick up the win on 68 pitches.

Boerne knocked out 9 hits and recorded 8 RBI. Reese House and Dylan Perez both scored 2 runs, while McNew drove in 3 runs and Dylan Perez and Jake Perez both pushed in 2 runs.
