The Bobcat baseball team put together an impressive performance in its 2025 season opener Monday at home against La Pryor.
Comfort run-ruled the Bulldogs in just four innings of work, 21-2, to start the year at 1-0.
The Bobcats were scheduled to play in the Three Rivers Tournament this weekend that was still on as of Thursday.
After that, the Cats visit TMI – Episcopal Tuesday and then play in the Sonora tourney this coming weekend.
Comfort started Monday’s game by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first. The Cats added 3 more runs in the second for the 7-0 lead after two frames and then blew it open in the third with 14 runs.
In that third inning, Comfort sent 20 batters to the plate against the overmatched Bulldogs.
The Bobcats knocked out 13 hits and took advantage of 10 walks.
Mason Matt had the only extra base hit of the game with a double and added a single to finish with 2 hits, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Dax Stehling knocked out 3 hits, picked up 3 RBI and scored twice, Tucker Rust recorded 2 hits, picked up 3 RBI and scored 3 runs, Brooks Davis singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs, Gunner Carpenter singled, pushed in 2 runs and scored twice, Mason Matter knocked out 2 singles, drove in 3 runs and scored 2 runs, while Noah Bohnert hit 2 singles and scored 3 runs.
Zach Jones tossed 3 frames and gave up 1 hit and struck out 4, while Judd Lozano pitched an inning and gave up 3 hits and 2 runs, while fanning 2.
