It was a tough outing for the Boerne Champion softball team Tuesday when the Chargers hosted Smithson Valley in a district contest moved up a few hours because of the weather.
Smithson Va l l e y was supposed to host the game but it moved to Champion because their field was in better condition.
The Rangers went on to post a 16-0 win over the Chargers in three innings of work behind 11 hits.
Champion is 2-2 overall and 0-2 in district. The Chargers were off Friday and are scheduled to play at home Tuesday vs. Antonian in a non-district game and then host Alamo Heights Friday.
Rangers pitcher Arianna Capek tossed a three-inning perfect game after she didn’t give up a hit, walk or run. She fanned 6 of the 9 batters she faced.
NOTES: Champion head coach Sara Cammer played for Alamo Heights head coach Jennifer Fox at Boerne High back in 2007 when the Lady Greyhounds won the 4A softball state championship. It’s still the only state championship won by a girls team at Boerne High.
