The Boerne High soccer teams tangled with Kerrville Tivy Tuesday and both Tivy teams tumbled against the Greyhounds.
The Boerne High girls hosted the Lady Antlers while the boys were in Kerrville and both won. The BHS boys were trailing 3-1 at halftime before winning it with four second-half goals.
Boerne was scheduled to play Veterans Memorial Friday and then meet Smithson Valley Tuesday before clashing with Boerne Champion next Friday.
Varsity Girls
There wasn’t much offense in Tuesday’s tilt and only one goal was scored and it came from the Greyhounds that went on to post a 1-0 win.
Kinsley Sawyer tallied the only goal of the match on a free kick in the second half for the only offense of the night.
The Lady Greyhounds are 7-3 in district and 12-5 overall. Boerne is in fourth place in the 26-5A standings, just ahead of fifth-place Boerne Champion, which is 5-4-1 in district.
Varsity Boys
The cold weather that hit the Hill Country on Tuesday night didn’t stop the Boerne boys from tallying five goals, four of those coming in the second half.
Kerrville scored a few goals as well and was leading 3-1 at halftime, but the Greyhounds knocked in four second-half goals to defeat the Antlers, 5-3.
Felix Theiss finished with a hat trick and netted 3 goals, while Austin Vecino tallied 2 goals.
The Boerne High boys are 8-1-1 in district and 10-2-1 overall. BHS is in second place and has a three-game lead over third-place New Braunfels, which is 5-3-1 in 26-5A. Pieper is the only team ahead of the Hounds at 10-0.
