Nora Montgomery

Nora Darlene Montgomery, a resident of Boerne, Texas, peacefully departed this life on Feb. 7, 2024. She was born Nora Darlene Finch on Aug. 18, 1932, in Houston, Texas.

Aug. 18, 1932 – Feb. 7, 2024

She spent her formative Montgomery

years in Houston, where she would marry Roy Hill Montgomery and together, they raised a family.

In the mid-1990s, they embraced retirement, seeking the perfect haven in the Texas Hill Country, where they discovered Boerne, Texas, and took delight in explaining its correct pronunciation. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hill Montgomery, and their son, Charles Montgomery. She is survived by her daughter, Darla Straka (and husband, Jimmy) of Northern California; and her two sons, Steven Montgomery of League City, Texas, and David Montgomery of Boerne.

She is affectionately remembered as “Nana” by her three surviving grandchildren: Laura Jackson (and husband, Loren) of Houston; Nathan Montgomery (and partner, Andrew) of Houston; and Perry James; as well as two great-grandchildren, Bella Jackson and Blaine Jackson of Houston.

Known for her boundless love and nurturing spirit, Darlene’s happiest years were spent in retirement amid the tranquil beauty of the Texas Hill Country, where she found immense joy in nurturing her countless gardens. Darlene's gardens mirrored the love and warmth she shared with all who knew her.

The family extends gratitude to all those who brought joy to Darlene throughout her life. A visitation is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. on Feb 15, 2024, with a brief service beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne.

In honor of her fondness for pets, many of whom found refuge and love in her home as strays, the family kindly requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the SPCA, your local animal shelter, or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
