Sandie Shepherd

Sandie Shepherd

Sandie Joiner Shepherd was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Louisiana to Delmon and Annie Mae Joiner. Sandie had four brothers and one sister who spent the early part of their lives on a cotton plantation where their daddy was the overseer.

When Sandie was still very young, they left Louisiana and moved to Texas, and she grew up in Grand Prairie.

Sandie lived a simple life with the love of her family and never felt like she was missing out on anything. She enjoyed school, loved to dance, and even won two beauty pageants.

Although she never attended college, she excelled in her professional career, working at a law firm and then in the hotel business before joining a large company in Dallas as an executive assistant.

In the ‘70s, Sandie met the love of her life, Tom

When Tom passed away in 2019, Sandie stayed in Athens for a while but eventually decided she wanted to be closer to her girls and moved to Boerne in 2020. Daughter April and her husband, Ted, built a beautiful guest house for Sandie to live in so that they could help take care of her.

Sandie was preceded in death by her husband, Tom J. Shepherd; one daughter, Stori Hughes; one son, Steele Shepherd; her parents, Delmon and Annie Mae Joiner; one sister Dorothy Ottmo; and three brothers Buck, Dave and Donnie Joiner.
