Ed Strube
Edwin Pearson Strube passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 75. He was born to Edwin A. Strube and Sally (Pearson) Strube on September 8, 1948, in Kerrville, Texas.
Ed grew up and attended school in Boerne. He was a gifted automotive mechanic, winning awards as early as high school. He had a love of trucks from an early age, helping his father who owned a small trucking company.
He met Margaret Phipps of San Antonio, and they married in 1968. They lived in San Antonio and Dallas, Ed working as a mechanic for a car dealer and the Dallas Police Department. The family moved to Eagle Lake where Ed continued to broaden his horizons, owning his own business, and driving his own truck. He returned to mechanics working for Woods & Copeland, traveling the country repairing tractors.
When he got tired of traveling the country, he returned to the trucking industry, maintaining fleets of trucks for Cantu Trucking, his own sod hauling business in Wharton and Waste Processing Industries in Corpus Christi.
Later, he got a job in Conroe as the maintenance supervisor for Western Waste before finishing his career at J.H. Walker Trucking. He retired as a shop supervisor for Walker Trucking in Houston.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin A. Strube; mother, Sally (Pearson) Strube; and brother, Michael A. Strube.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Margaret (Phipps) Strube of Conroe; his daughter, Sally Ruth Strube of Conroe; son, Edwin Euclid Strube and wife Theresa of Driftwood; and sister, Anna Strube Maloy and husband Arlyn Maloy of Boerne.
Grandchildren are Terrance Strube, Seth Strube, Zoi Blazejack, Ashleigh Strube, and Brian Blazejack. Nieces and nephews are Lisa Maloy Jones, Ross Strube, Craig Strube, and Jeremy Maloy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Waring Dance Hall, 544 Waring Welfare Road, in Waring, Texas. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Waring Area Community Association, PO Box 188, Waring, TX 78074 for the preservation of the Waring School House.
