Dorothy Jean Schaefer Hill, beloved wife, aunt, sister and friend, died Feb. 25, 2025, at the age of 76. She was born Nov. 26, 1948, to Clarence Schaefer and Effie Bauer in Comfort, Texas.

A proud 1967 graduate of Comfort High School, Dorothy continued her education at Austin Community College, earning an associate’s degree in marketing.

Her degree led her to a long career in the legal field, mainly with Brown-McCarroll law firm in Austin, Texas. She started her career as Dick McCarroll’s secretary and advanced to legal assistant as the firm grew.

Dorothy loved to dance to country music and met the love of her life, Jack Hill, while dancing in Austin, in November of 1994. They were married a year later.

Dorothy and Jack lived in Austin until they retired in 2014. They moved to Boerne, Texas, to be closer to her aging parents, who still lived in Comfort.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Jack; one sister, Joyce Schaefer; two nephews, Cleet Babbitt and Kevin Babbitt, and many dear friends and family members.

A celebration of life for Dorothy is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 13, 2025, at the Ring Mountain Event Center at Joshua Springs Park, 716 FM 289, Comfort, Texas.
