Mildred LaVerne Hodges Peterson was born to Alice Davis Corder and Ernest Brewer Hodges in rural Kerr County on the first day of spring, March 20, 1928.
She had two older sisters Dorothy Alice Howard and Eliose Goodrich. Later she got a new sister Betty Burney and then a brother Lamar Hodges. She married Glen Jerome Peterson on June 1, 1958, and had two children, James Paul Peterson and Mark Andrew Peterson.
She is survived by her oldest son Jim and his wife, Susan L. Ingram; three grandchildren, Emily P. (Ben) Johnson, Lilia (Ben Miller) Peterson and Eric (Robin) Carter; and great-grandchildren Silas James Johnson and Dorothy Eloise Johnson.
Her other grandson Samuel Jerome Peterson predeceased her along with her husband, her son, Mark, her brother and sisters, and her parents.
She was an accomplished musician, a long-time worship leader, a scholar with a master’s degree, a professional teacher of over 20 years, a devoted and beloved wife, mother, friend, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a seamstress, a world traveler, a philanthropist, a political strategist and a leader.
Most importantly she was a child of God, clothed in the righteousness of her Savior Jesus Christ. She died Feb. 15, 2025, and will be missed by all who knew her.
