Dr. Tonya Y. Hynds, 76, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on Jan. 7, 2025, in San Antonio. She was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Bedford, Indiana, to Harold and Bonny Wray.

She earned three degrees at Purdue University, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial technology and adult education.

Dr. Hynds taught at Purdue and Texas A&M universities, and worked for Bechtel, Fluor and Zachry Construction corporations, both nationally and internationally. She earned many awards for instruction and training, including a certified yellow belt, Six Sigma. She was preceded in death by her son, Grant Hynds.

Survivors include her brother, Kevin Morrow; two sisters, Trudi Roach and Terry Morrow; and ex-husband, Russ Hynds. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, 728 Jefferson St. in Kerrville. Scattering of her ashes will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hill Country Crisis Council.
