Paul B. Engelbert
Paul, just short of 88 years of age, went to be with our Lord in his final resting place Jan. 22, 2025. He went peacefully in his apartment, surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born to Emily and Hilmer Engelbert on March 16, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas. Paul was a Rice University graduate with two degrees; a bachelor of arts degree in civil engineering and a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
Paul was in the Navy for six years. He was very proud of this experience and the opportunity to serve his great country.
He worked as a construction project manager for his entire career. He worked on projects such as Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Army Residence Community Retirement Center in San Antonio and The Hyatt Regency Hotels in New Orleans and Houston.
He was an Episcopalian his entire life. He served on several committees at the church level and Diocesen level.
He enjoyed traveling, golf, reading, gardening, watching the Spurs and Dallas Cowboys, photography, classical music, any Apple product (taught ipad classes at Morningside Manor Menger Springs for years), good food, a good margarita and good wine.
He loved spending time with his family, especially “The Bros”: Joe Graves (Arline’s husband), and Richard and Bobby Engelbert.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby; his twin sister, Arline Engelbert Graves; his ex-wife Loretta Hill Engelbert; and his son, Daryl Engelbert.
He is survived by his daughter, Kerry Engelbert (John) Green; two grandchildren, Kendall Green and Jake Green; one brother, Richard (Lynn) Engelbert; brother-in-law Joe Graves; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 1, 2025, at Morningside Manor Menger Springs at the Menger House. A light reception will follow.
