Chester Lee Glenn Jr.

Dec. 17, 2024

, son of Chester Lee Glenn and Leona Ehrlich Glenn, passed away quietly in his sleep on Dec. 17, 2024, following a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; three sons, Ronald, Michael and Jeffrey; two daughters-in-law, Lisa and Rachael; eight grandchildren, Alexandra, Haylee, Abby, Sam, Julie, Brendan, Dillon, and Madison; one sister, Kathy Cox; and sister-in-law Frankie Kosik; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

His wife Marjorie preceded him in death.

Chester was born in Houston, where he attended Jefferson Davis Senior High School. Following high school graduation, he attended Texas A & M University for two years, afterward remaining a lifelong and fervent Aggies football fan.

After leaving school he went to work for Reed Tool Company which, through a series of mergers and acquisitions over time, became Baker-Hughes. During that time, he became a certified practitioner of the American Production and Inventory Control Society.

One of Chester greatest leisure- time pleasures during his time in Houston was taking his sons to Lake Conroe, where he owned a couple lots. They spend those days swimming, fishing, playing ball, and cooking and eating hot dogs. They also built a pier together on their lakeside lot. In addition, Chester was very involved in his sons’ sport events as they grew, and he coached both football and baseball in his spare time.

It was due to his career at Baker-Hughes that Chester moved from Houston to San Antonio, where he became active in the Rotary Club of San Antonio Oak Hills, including serving as chairman for two years. In San Antonio, he also became an avid Spurs fan and followed the team faithfully.

Following 40-plus years of service, Chester retired from Baker-Hughes and devoted his time to his true favorite sport, golf. He and Margie moved to Fair Oaks Ranch where he spent days on the golf course and evenings playing poker and bridge.

See GLENN, page 10 He also became interested in gardening. In true Chester Glenn style — including a belief that there’s never too much of a good thing — he regularly planted at least 24 tomato plants. His yard also boasted a peach tree, a plum tree, a fig tree, a Mandarin orange tree and a lemon tree, all of which he planted and tended.

The family will host a Celebration of Life for Chester at the home at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2024.
