James K. De Vries
James K. De Vries
James Kipp De Vries passed away Nov. 26, 2024, in the presence of those he loved dearly after a brief battle with leukemia.
James grew up in San Antonio where he attended Robert E. Lee High School (Class of 1987). He then moved to Lubbock, Texas, and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Tech University while diligently working to support himself through school.
James appreciated the beauty of life, as seen through his eagerness to start and end his days spending time with his Savior, Jesus.
He enjoyed road trips, being outside, sunsets, working with his hands, and yearly summer beach trips with his family. James met the love of his life, Barbara (Swinney), and they married on July 5, 2003. James and Barbara were blessed with four children, Chloe (husband Paul), Emma, Michael and Brooke.
Those who knew James will remember him as a passionately dedicated husband, father, son, brother and friend, whose faith was deeply rooted in Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry, who was a wonderful example to James of living a life that glorified God in his relationships and work (1 Cor. 10:31).
He is survived by his wife Barbara, four children, Chloe (Paul) Koberlein, and Emma, Michael, and Brooke De Vries; his mother, Carie; one sister, Cherie (Joe) Short; and one brother, Jeff De Vries.
James had a rare gift of helping others in need and has left a lasting impact on those who crossed his path.
Thank you to all who supported and helped provide for the family. A special thank you to the team at Alamo Hospice for their care and service. Our family has been richly blessed by the Geneva community with their love, support and continued prayers.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the San Antonio Rescue Mission or the Currey Creek Church Invest Campaign.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.
