His mother, Julia Donahoe, was born in Old San Patricio on the Nueces River and was the first of eight children born to John S. Donahoe and Darra Darnell. She attended public schools in Falfurias.

His father, Fred Regan, came to Kingsville when his dad, John H. Regan, accepted the general superintendent’s job for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Fred was the second of five children and all attended H.M. King High School before it burned in 1924.

Bob graduated from H.M. King in 1948, then attended Texas A&I University, receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He was on a track scholarship and in 1954 was captain of the track team, also serving as head cheerleader.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Employed by Celanese Corporation in 1955 as an operator helper, he retired in 1990 as the human resources superintendent, having worked in Bishop, Pampa and the Technical Center in Corpus Christi.

He was an active Boy Scout of America leader for more than 35 years; past president of the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce and Texas A&I University Alumni Association; and served two terms on the Kingsville ISD school board.

He was a member of the Model “A” Ford Club of America, Vintage Car Club of America and a lifetime member of the American Hereford Breeders Association. He was an avid wood carver, carving songbirds and duck decoys.

Bob and Carolyn moved to Fredericksburg in 2004 and enjoyed the vibrancy of the area until 2013, when they relocated to Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs in Boerne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Julia Regan; one daughter, Patricia Gail Holtman; one son, Fred; one sister, Margaret Regan Cushion; and one brother, Fred.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Stromberger Regan; son-in-law Harold Anthony Holtman Jr. (Karen) of New Braunfels; one granddaughter, Amy Michelle Holtman Deal (Read) of Fort Worth; two grandsons, Harold Anthony Holtman III (Quinn) of New Braunfels, and Rustin Browning (Claire) Steel; seven great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Patricia, Madeline Olivia Deal, Samuel Harold, Grace Ellyn, Benjamin Donald Holtman, Sydney Grace and Jetty Bernard Steel; and one brother-in-law, Ernest Nelson Stromberger (Mary Gayle).

Memorial donations of love and devotion may be made in Bob’s name to St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Road, Boerne, Texas.
