Camella Willis

Camella “Cammy” Rose Moore Willis, 81, of Boerne, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 4, 2024, surrounded by her four daughters.

Cammy was born to Jack and Frances Moore, on Dec. 12, 1942, in Lubbock, Texas. She spent her childhood in Midland, Texas, then studied elementary education at Texas Tech University. She was a Red Raider cheerleader and Miss Texas Tech 1965.

That must have caught the eye of the captain of the football team, C.C. Willis Jr. They met on a blind double date and married on Sept. 4, 1965. Together they raised four daughters: Heather, Shelly, Katy and Wendy.

Cammy devoted her life to her family. She loved being a wife, a mom and “Mimi” to her grandkids. If you ask her grandkids, they will each tell you that they were Mimi’s favorite, and that’s because she made each one of them feel so uniquely special.

Cammy’s strong faith in the Lord was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She loved being a Sunday School teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in Casa Grande, Arizona, where she also served as an elder and a deacon. She volunteered with Seeds of Hope in Casa Grande and with the Angel Society of Fallbrook, California, at their Angel Store.

Cammy and C.C. moved to Boerne in 2015 to be closer to two of their daughters. Cammy continued her volunteer work in Boerne through Currey Creek Church in the children’s ministry. Her faith continued to grow and flourish being a part of the Bible study fellowship.

On more than one occasion her daughters have heard from others about the positive impact Cammy has made in their lives, and in their own faith. Her kindness was never-ending, and her special, personalized, handwritten notes were full of encouragement, compassion and love.

Cammy loved any and everything in nature: plants, trees, flowers, birds, dogs, cats, cows and goats. She loved a beautiful Hill Country sunset and the awesomeness of a rainbow after a storm.

She loved her husband, C.C., fiercely and unconditionally. They were each other’s best friends and biggest supporters. We should all attain to reach the level of their relationship. How fitting that they were married exactly 59 years on the day she went to be with the Lord.

Cammy is survived by her husband, C.C. Willis Jr.; four daughters, Heather (Steven, divorced) Church of Chandler, Arizona, Shelly (Gavin) Grosenbacher of Boerne, Katy (Joe) Drucker of Danville, California, and Wendy (Brian) Werab of Boerne; 11 grandchildren, Mikel, Ethan, David, Holly, Olivia, Ella, Danny, Jack, Sawyer, Will and Beckett; one sister, Susan Anderson of Ft. Worth, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Cammy will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2024, at Currey Creek Church, 35 Cascade Caverns, Boerne.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to Alzheimer’s Association at Alzheimer’s Association — Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Help.
