With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of beloved Jay McClure. He departed peacefully on Aug. 15, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Jay was born in La Junta, Colorado, on Feb. 17, 1936, to Carl and Louise McClure. He was a computer programmer for Uvalde Rock Asphalt Company for many years. He started his career when computers took up entire rooms.
Jay was also a skilled mechanic, woodworker and fixer of everything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his beloved wife, Ethelee, and their sweet dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ethelee McClure and his beloved pup, Twiggy. He is also survived by one sister, Belinda (John) Anderson; two daughters, Sandra (Lonnie) Flippen and Mindy (Gordon) Dodd; one son, Rusty (Gigi)McClure; one stepdaughter, Becky Alexander; eight grandchildren, Julia (Rick) Snyder, Amy Oldham, Brian Oldham, Jody (Lynne) Flippen, Michael (Sarah) Oldham, Stephanie (Jerry) Lacour, Jason (Becca) Grohman and Devin McClure; three step-grandchildren, Travis (Katlyn) Decker, Dusty (Alejandra) Decker and T.J. Dudley; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Louise McClure; his brother, Jerald McClure, and a stepdaughter, Donna Dudley.
Services were held Saturday at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home, and he was laid to rest at Boerne Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hill Country Animal League, https://hcaltx.org/get-involved/ donate or the charity of your choice.
