Charles “Mike” Cheek
Charles Michael “Mike” Cheek was born on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1946, and met his Savior eye to eye on June 11, 2024, surrounded by the love, laughter and tears of his beloved wife, June, four daughters, and one of his granddaughters.
They made their home in Fair Oaks Ranch for 15 years before moving back to Rockwall, Texas, in June 2017 to be closer to three daughters and a growing number of grandchildren.
As time marched forward, the couple decided to return to their Hoosier roots and built their last home in Winona Lake, Indiana. They moved into their home in December 2023, where Mike enjoyed and savored the last few months of his life.
Mike’s greatest joys were spending time each morning growing closer to God, his beloved June, and “his” dog, Bitsi. His unscheduled days allowed him to fall even more deeply in love with his bride of more than 52 years.
He loved ending the day on their back patio, watching the sun set. Mike loved and was loved by countless family and friends from his many adventures.
After retirement, he found fulfillment in mentoring several young men and families, leaving a lasting impact.
Mike and June were former members of Boerne United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held there on Saturday July 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. with a reception following in the Family Life Center.
