Brenda Penwell passed away after a sudden massive stroke on Tuesday May 21, 2024, at the age of 64.

Brenda was the second daughter of Eddie and Mary Ellen Penwell, born in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in what was the small town of Boerne.

In 1975, she was crowned Miss Berges Fest, a title that she was so proud of. She attended Boerne schools and decided to graduate early from St. Albert’s Hall in 1976.

Brenda loved her family, friends and especially her dogs. She had a great sense of fashion style and had an eye for salvaged goods. She enjoyed working retail or pet sitting. She lived her life like no other.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Ellen Penwell; her sister, Robyn (Rick) McGarr; her niece, Reagan (Bryant) Harris; her uncle, Douglas Smith; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dan and Lois Smith, her father, Eddie Penwell, and her nephew, Reid Merchant.

At this time, there is no public memorial planned. In lieu of flowers, her mother is asking that donations be made to a no-kill pet shelter in Brenda’s name.
