Bill Cromey
Bill Cromey considered himself to be an average guy. He chose to write the following single line life story: “Son, brother, student, singer, soldier, husband, father, oil trader, guitar picker and handyman.”
Bill was born in New Jersey in the heart of the great depression. He described his childhood as a happy time with two older sisters to spoil him and with neighborhood friends to play stick ball with.
His college days found him attending the Citadel for two years at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and graduating in 1956.
Bill’s career in the energy industry started in 1962 with employment in Amerada Hess Corporation. At Hess, he served for 12 years in the phases of petroleum marketing. Bill joined Tesoro Petroleum Corporation in 1974 as manager of international marketing and in 1987 was promoted to senior vice president of marketing, supply and distribution. He retired from Tesoro Petroleum in 1992 and opened his own consulting practice, Petroleum Marketing Solutions, with offices in San Antonio and Anchorage.
In Bill’s post-retirement years, he brought his marketing skills to San Antonio’s commercial real estate market. He was happily a commercial agent with Coldwell Banker Commercial Alamo City.
Though busy in the petroleum industry, Bill found more time to enjoy his love of music, play his guitar and sing with the Maranatha Choir in Boerne.
Bill is survived by Beverly, his wife of 36 years, and his children, Douglas of Tucson, Arizona, David of New Braunfels, Texas, Pam Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee, Allison Davis of Kennebunk, Maine, Nicole of Moulton, Texas, and Mathew of Phoenix, Arizona.
