Mary was a wonderful seamstress and made beautiful dresses for her girls and nice suits for her sons and husband. She made several dresses for her daughters for the Lutheran Charity Coronation.

She attended Hope Lutheran Church and taught the eighth grade Catechism class. She later became a member at St. John Lutheran in Boerne. She managed a law firm for over 25 years.

She was a docent at the Institute of Texan Cultures and was a member of the Alamo Heroes Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
